JP Steel Plantech Co. announces that it won the 2014 Technical Development Award for the Tokyo and South Kanto District Branch of the Japan Society for Technology of Plasticity for its development and commercialization of the plate leveler. This award aims to recognize creative and exquisite technologies, materials, machines and products in the plastic forming field.

For the award-winning “SuPerLeveler™”, which was developed as the fourth generation plate leveler, flatness was dramatically improved, and the residual stress of the plate was substantially reduced through its “deflection control technology”. It was difficult to correct the deflection of TMCP and DQ steel plates, but the SuPerLeveler™ makes it easier.

Furthermore, the dramatically improved reliability allows for correcting steel plates without relying on the experience and intuition of skilled workers. Since productivity is substantially improved by installing the fourth generation plate leveler, “SuPerLevler™”, on the main lines, our clients have given it high praise.

With the winning of the honorable award, we will put more effort into providing products and services that meet its clients’ needs, aiming at being a company that can respond to any type of client request.

The description of the award and the ceremony schedule are as follows:

Plate Leveler

The SuPerLeveler™ was developed by JP Steel Plantech in 1998 as equipment to improve the flatness of steel plates (6 mm to 50 mm thick) produced in plate mills. Warping generated in the leveler (surface preparation materials to increase horizontal precision) during correction is also completely corrected through infinity control of rigidity. This has made it possible to flatten TMCP steel plates, hardened steel plates, and other steel plates that require straightening reaction, and which did not become stable using conventional levelers.
