JP Steel Plantech Co., a steelmaking plant engineering manufacturer (President: Nobuyuki Nada; head office: Yokohama-shi, Kanagawa), did a technical release and presentation on eco-friendly high-efficiency arc furnace ECOARC™ at the Meeting for Environmental Protection and Energy-saving jointly held by the Japan Iron and Steel Federation (JISF) and the China Iron and Steel Association (CISA) in Taiyuan, Shanxi Province, China on October 29, 2019.

This meeting provides a venue where Japanese and Chinese steelmaking companies exchange opinions on eco-friendly technologies and other issues. This was the eleventh meeting, with about 100 people participating. We presented reports on our latest technical activities during the meeting.

We also presented the equipment technology, operation records, energy-saving performance, and environmental performance of ECOARC™, and spoke about our solid waste treatment technology, which uses an electric furnace based on the concept of contributing to the society in various ways while making iron. Many participants were interested in our presentation and asked questions, such as the technical differences with other companies and the treatment of dioxin.

We have delivered seven units of ECOARC™ in and outside Japan so far. In China, the first and second units for Benxi Iron & Steel are scheduled to start operation in 2020. We expect the market in China to shift to electric furnaces as demand for environmental measures rises. Going forward, we will continue to enhance our sales promotion activities in China.
